Just like with many fitness related activities, your choice of athletic apparel is essential to your comfort. If you are wearing something that just doesn’t feel right it can make your experience dreadful. With yoga, you absolutely need to make sure that the clothes that you are wearing while you are practicing yoga are comfortable. The yoga pant can be one of the most difficult things to choose when you are just starting out with yoga. You have so many options to choose from…should you go with tight or loose fitting pants? Should you go with capri yoga pants or long yoga pants? What material is going to be the best for you? These are all questions that often go through the novice yoga practitioners mind. Really, there is no right answer to any of these questions as you can imagine, it is all about what you prefer. Luckily, yoga pants are not all that expensive, so it should not break the bank if you happen to make the wrong choice and you realize that your not comfortable in your new clothing. One suggestion I can give you though, is if you practice yoga at a studio, check out what the other people in your class are wearing. If you see someone with a similar body type as yourself, you might want to consider approaching them and asking them why they decided on that particular yoga pant. It is a good way to get to know new people and it is a great way to get an honest review of any yoga accessory that you are thinking about purchasing.

You might be wondering what type of pant I prefer, and currently my answer to that question would have to be the loose fitting, capri style, cotton yoga pants. But, who knows…that could change at any time because I like to mix it up.

For women who practice yoga regularly, finding an appropriate yoga top can be a bit more difficult than it can be for men. Men can just wear any t-shirt or tank top that they would like, but yoga tops women usually prefer must offer up some sort of support depending on the woman’s body type. While a sports bra could suffice while practicing yoga, many of the specific women’s yoga tops available online or at specialty yoga stores offer the support you need, but they also give you more material allowing you to cover up your arms and stomach. This can be useful for people who enjoy practicing sweaty yoga and would like to sweat more.

Another thing you might want to consider if you do not necessarily prefer the form fitting yoga top, is that their are plenty of loose fitting women’s yoga shirts that are comfortable and allow you to practice without feeling restricted, which is often the preference for certain people. But, if you decide to go with the looser fitting option, you will definitely want to make sure that you have some type of sports bra underneath to offer the type of support that is necessary to comfortably accomplish your yoga poses.

While you can purchase a yoga top at a sporting goods store located in your town, I definitely prefer to purchase my yoga accessories online because you can get plenty of reviews to see which brand is going to work best for you. Also, online you can almost always get a better deal on yoga tops.

If you are a woman who practices yoga regularly, you must know the importance of proper yoga pants. If you are just starting in your yoga journey, it is important that you know the types of yoga pants women prefer most so that you don’t waste your money on a pair of yoga pants for women that just simply do not do the trick. Too many yoga pant manufacturers don’t understand the importance of making a pant that is comfortable, yet does not require you to keep pulling your pants up with each yoga asanas. These poorly made pants are usually without a drawstring and are not made with the user in mind. Now, a lot of women use spandex pants when practicing yoga, but this simply does not work for all body types.

There really are not that many women that are comfortable in the tight yoga pant, and the manufacturers that have realized this are going to have a step up on the competition. From my observation, it seems that the looser, lighter and drawstring included yoga pant is becoming the yoga pant of choice for many women and men alike. The tight/spandex womens yoga pants are becoming less popular due to the simple fact that on many people these pants either start to fall down while you are in a difficult pose (and the last thing you want to think about while you are concentrating on the difficult pose is adjusting your pant), or they just are not comfortable and certain people find them restricting. Go with a loose yoga pant, capri pant, sweat pant or even scrub pant and you will soon feel comfortable in your yoga practice allowing you to focus on what is important…yoga! If you practice yoga regularly, surely you have had the need to go out and purchase apparel that is appropriate for your yoga sessions. Many people use tight yoga pants and that is just fine, however, there are some people out there who simply do not like wearing pants and/or tight pants while practicing yoga. These people might be self conscious about wearing tight pants, or they might just feel like the tight material on their legs is unappealing. Well, for those people yoga shorts are just the answer.

Men’s yoga shorts are actually very common amongst the male gender because, well, let’s face it…the majority of men rarely wear tight pants. These shorts allow for you to comfortably practice yoga without being hindered by shorts or pants that just don’t allow you to move and pose freely.

For women, though generally women are more comfortable wearing tight pants because it is more accepted within our society (it is not uncommon to see a woman wearing stretchy spandex pants doing their everyday activities), however, some women just are not comfortable wearing tight pants possibly due to body image issues, or maybe they just don’t want to draw the attention of other people to their lower body.
