Yoga Mat
If you are new to yoga, the chances are you are going to want to purchase a yoga mat. There are a lot of mats to choose from, so it can be difficult to know what the right mat will be for your particular situation. That is the reason why I have compiled a short list of things to consider prior to purchasing your first or next mat for yoga.
The first thing that you will want to consider is what type of yoga you will be practicing. There are plenty of different types of yoga, some harder than others, so it is a good idea to take that into consideration before you buy your new mat. If you plan to do more strenuous forms of yoga, such as Ashtanga, you will want a thicker mat that is a bit stickier than your typical mat.
Another thing that you should consider is the length and width of the mat. Depending on your size, you should definitely keep in mind that a mat that is too small for your particular body, can make yoga that much more difficult for you. Always choose too big over too small when it comes to a mat.
You will also want to remember that just like most things you spend your money on, you get what you pay for. Make sure that you don’t just go with the least expensive one, because in the long run you will spend more money on replacements later on. There is nothing worse than a bad mat, it can make or break your yoga experience, so keep that in mind when purchasing.
The most important thing to consider, however, is how comfortable a particular mat is. Your own personal preference is the best judge of a good mat, if it is a comfortable yoga mat, chances are that a comfortable mat will be worth the money that you are going to spend.
Make sure that you have done your research prior to purchasing your next mat for yoga, that way you can be sure that you are not making a mistake and wasting your money on a bad one.
